Managed Wavelength

We enable enterprise customers to move large volumes of data faster while accommodating multiple applications

Alpheus provides Managed Wavelength services for companies who need large amounts of bandwidth and want a reliable alternative to leasing, lighting, and managing dark fiber. Managed Wavelength services are well-suited for large enterprise customers who need reliable, protected or unprotected optical transport services of 1 Gbps or higher.

Clients can quickly and easily provision additional bandwidth to support dynamic applications such as video conferencing, native Ethernet applications requiring LAN connectivity, packet-over-SONET and premise-based IP telephony.

Managed Wavelength service benefits include:

  • Ability to engineer bandwidth protection across multiple paths to maintain maximum network control
  • Option to leverage existing network equipment
  • Optional SONET and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
  • Unrestricted support for all major networking protocols including ATM, Frame Relay, SONET, Ethernet and IP

Managed Wavelength services are optical network solutions enabled by Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology - a high-bandwidth data private line service. Protocol and bit-rate independent Managed Wavelength services provide high-volume optical transport in point-to-point configurations that support a minimum and maximum bandwidth per-optical signal.

Managed Wavelength configurations for point-to-point services offers:

  • Load-Sharing Configuration with customer-provided protection - Two client interfaces per site and two physically-diverse unprotected paths
  • Network-Protected Configuration for guaranteed availability- One client interface per site and two physically-diverse unprotected paths with guaranteed protection
  • Unprotected Configuration - One client interface per site and a single, unprotected network path
